Incorrect Use of the Ventilation Button

Many of us don’t know how to use the ventilation re-circulation button – or use it incorrectly! So, to de-mystify any confusion, here’s when and how to use this awesome feature.

In cold weather – and the winter months: DON’T use the ventilation button in the winter. Why? It traps humidity inside the car, resulting in foggy windows.

In warm weather – and the summer months: using the ventilation button in the summer will keep your car cool. Its purpose is to recirculate cool air that you get from the A/C. The longer it’s on, the cooler your car will be.

Not Engaging the Parking Brake with Automatics

The parking brake is paramount to your safety, and the safety of those around you. A car’s brakes are controlled by a ‘parking pawl’ which will lock your transmission when the car is in park.

Some drivers still cling to the idea that the parking brake is only for cars with a standard transmission. This is incorrect. The weight of any car means that it needs to be controlled – especially when on an incline. Always engage the park brake when stationary, it’s one of the ways that’ll stop you from worrying about how you’ll be able to sell broken car in the future!

Not Allowing for the Requisite 3-4 Feet of Space Between You and the Car in Front
